East Feast is a community network of diverse neighbors in Austin, TX. We connect people and resources, grow food and community, and celebrate the power of neighbors rooted in our land and our history to create a healthy future for all. By establishing edible landscaping in public rights of way, public parks, and even front yards, cities and their citizens can make more productive use of cultivable land through civic agriculture.
East Feast conducted a series of workshops to reach out to the community and find out how they felt about having a food forest in their city. The vision has been widely supported and the East Feast Project Team is currently working in partnership with the City of Austin Parks and Recreation Department on a proposal for a pilot Food Forest extension of the Festival Beach Community Garden.
